Ruffles

Yello!

Just a short blog entry from me this Friday night as 1. I was back to work this week and so buggered 2. Had a killer headache all day and so buggered 3. I need to work on orders but I am so buggered! lol

Anywho!

Here are two little tops that I have been playing around with this week! Got a bit of positive feedback from friends and sidekicks so I think they might be alright :) Something different to come out of BB!

I do have some other ideas and embellishments that I want to try with singlets and tees but these were the first that I got to. I have seen other tops which look beautiful and I was like..hmmm I can put my twist on that. Turns out they are nothing alike but I think mine are pretty and eye catching while still not being too big or over the top for a bubs to wear. Do you think that too or is it just me??

Before I finish up I have to share this gorgeous pic that Kylie from Daylight Imagery took of her niece before she starts school this year. She is beautiful and I'm so lucky to have a cutie like her wearing my clip!

Hope everyone has a great Australia Day long weekend!!

Sew far sew good...

Hey Peeps!

I have been a busy little bee this week working on a multitude of different things! It's safe to say that I have spent most of this week of my holidays at home in my sewing room.

First I'll start it off with one of my new flowers that is being added to BB's range this year. The 'Blossom'. These are totally handmade by moi, apart from the chiffon itself. I cut out each petal (painfully) and then seal the edges of each petal with a candle (can get hot) and then fold and sew each petal to create the pretty little flowers you see below! Each flower consists of 8 petals so you can probably imagine the work that goes into each one. I'll be stopping into the shop I bought the chiffon from in a couple of weeks to expand my colour range...think I might look at peach, buttercup annnndddd turquoise??

Here is a piccie of one of the large blossoms on a skinny headband. I...love...it!! I've also made the blue flower above into a pretty little headband too :)

These are two bubba elastic headbands that I have made for a friend. The white is a medium blossom and the pink/purple are two small blossoms put together. I usually stick with odd numbers but three small blossoms was just too much for this newborns headband.

Too cute!

I can hear you all yelling at me now..."WE'VE ONLY JUST GOT OVER CHRISTMAS'! I know I know! Easter is a little far ahead to be thinking but I saw something like these the other night and just HAD to make them. Since my twinny niece and nephew are lactose intolerant (which I forgot at Christmas time, D'oh!) I thought that these bean bag bunnies could be a good alternative for them to play with at Easter...or anyday!

This is my little bunny below. Now I didn't double stitch my bunny and after chucking him around and squishing him (because I love the feel of bean bags) I noticed he started to pop a hole *insert sad face here*. So I have put some fray check on him and will mend his little hole soon so I can start throwing him around again. I also made him a little bean bag carrot but won't be making anymore of those as they are too fiddly!

However the bunnies you see below are for my niece and I have reinforced certain areas of the bunnies with triple stitching and added some fray check to curves to hopefully stop any threads from tearing. Bean bags get a pretty good workout you know!! Plus this pink gingham fabric is slightly better quality than the purple one above. I can't remember where I got the purple from but I won't buy there again!!

Then you pretty much play toss the bunnies!! I thought by making three different sizes they could be worth different points plus they are different weight so you have to change your throwing style.

You can see my awesome tossing skills below. I got a goal!!...or...basket!!

Actually I lie. I took a bunch of photos and put a couple together that made it look like the bunny was going in. I didn't get it in once. But you try taking photos with one hand as well as throwing in the bunny bean bags...it's hard work! Anywho.....

I have a baby shower to go to tomorrow and I picked this cute little hat up ages ago and wanted to dress it up. I was putting flowers etc etc but they all looked too 'OTT'...my friend isn't having a drag baby. So I went with these yoyos which add a little bit of prettiness to the hat while still not being too overbearing with the bright colours.

I told ya I wasn't getting ahead of myself with the Easter stuff. Here are some Valentines inspired yoyo clips with COVERED BUTTONS! I am finally using my buttons and I luuuurve them! I have a couple more heart fabrics that I want to use to make a couple more.

*starts singing "I've got that loving feeling"*

Last but not least here are my unfinished coasters! When I was cleaning up my bedside tables I wanted something a bit more exciting than my now cork/shell type coasters. So I went to the net and did a little research and came up with these!

They could be a little bit too big or bigger than what I originally wanted but either way they will do their job! I have the a lovely cherry (although it said lollipop on the material) pattern with a medium pink plain fabric on the back. I have a layer of flannel in the middle for extra absorbency as well as giving the coasters some 'body'. I just need to top stitch these babies and they'll be ready to roll!!

Hope everyone has been able to escape the stupid heat we're having!! It's meant to be about 40 outside today but I have been chilling inside in a relaxing 23 degrees. Thumbs up for air con!

YO making me crazy.

Finally...Blogger is back!! Yippee.

Over the last couple of days I have been yoyo-ing my little heart out. I know my picture looks a little different today than usual but that is because I have added in majority of the yoyos which I have made over the last 3 nights. Some of them are for an order but the rest are for my First Birthday Sale which is on the 10th June at 7:30pm...for those who don't know.

This morning I got down to the post office to send off my parcel of goodies to Kylie at Daylight Imagery. I am really excited to be getting these photos done and Kylies niece is just so adorable too. You can see in the top right corner a little box with some clippies in it for Kylies niece as a little thank you from me for being a model. I also put in another pic of my Maxi flower with feathers...again...I just love it so much! I even had to try it on before wrapping it up and sending it off hehe

Apart from that not much else has been happening in my bow world. I am just working on orders and on sale items. i did get my second lots of beanies in which is exciting! I love them so much, just wish I had a little head of my own to be wearing them. But there is pleeeeenty of time for that to happen...I won't be wishing too hard lol

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Personal Project - Embellished top Part 1

Well I have decided to do something a little different for this post. That is why you don't see the little group of piccies to the left!

I have been wanting to embellish a top with some yoyo's for ages but I could never find 'the' fabric that I wanted to make it with. That was until I stumbled across a gem in one of my op shops near work last week. I'm really not sure what the fabric is but it's soft yet solid, quite sheer and a white/off white colour.

So above you can find the shirt 'before' it's transformation. I went with a basic black stretch 3/4 sleeve top. It's Autumn (or fall) here in Aussieland so it's just starting to get cool enough to wear longer sleeved tops during the day. It was just a normal everyday shirt from BigW for a bargain price of $8.49 or something like that.

Here you will find the three main ingredients for making my yoyos! My two yoyo makers, I think they come out at about 1inch and 2inch sizes. My sheer material, which I think must have been used as some type of curtain or something? Then the all important needle and thread! Normally whatever colour thread I use doesn't really matter as you can't see it once the yoyo is finished but since this material was sheer I thought it may be better to go with a matching colour.

(insert) Having lunch and watching TV while making yoyo's all afternoon (/insert)

Then voila! I have a group of lovely soft pretty yoyos! I made 4 larger ones and 6 smaller ones. I did have a little bit of trouble with some yoyos because the fabric is so thin the knot on the thread would pull through. But I didn't let that stop me!

Then comes the tricky bit of laying them out on the top and deciding where I want to put them! I do have to factor in that when I put the top on they will stretch out a teeny weeny bit.

So these are the patterns that I have come up with so far! I am probably leaning towards the first picture at the moment. I feel that they look better spread out but I may need to add one more small one in that space on the bottom right. Hmmm what do you think???.....

Once I know what pattern I like I just need to find my little beads and sequins to sparkle up the yoyos!

To be continued....

Raggity Anne...

Since finishing everyones orders I have had some extra time on my hands to work on some new ideas which have been floating around in my head. The other day I found this really cool tutorial on the blog, Lil Blue Boo which I just had to give a go. On her blog she uses upcycled knit material but I thought I would use my cottons and see how they went...

Well in the top right corner you'll see the final result! I am really happy with how it turned out. It is a lot larger then what I was expecting but thats alright. Plenty of time to tweek it! I have put this one on an elastic and am going to be giving it to a lil friend for her birthday to match a top we're giving her. Because I haven't fray checked the material I am going to call them Raggy Bows as I am sure they will eventually fray with use over time and become 'raggy' looking.

The bottom pics is a cute little yoyo snap clip which I will also be giving this friend for her birthday. I was planning on doing a light pink, white and grey combo but when I went to the material shop they only had dark or medium grey which looked yuk. *sad face* So I decided to go with just light pink and white. I'm also attempting a double fab bow headband in these materials...so far it's going alright but the stripey material is rather thick once you've folded it about 8 times on itself so that COULD pose some issues.

I also have some other exciting news but my lips are sealed until it has been announced.
