Who wears short shorts!?!

Hello hello!

I am a weeee bit excited and happy to share this with you guys tonight.

I posted earlier in the week on my FB page that I was considering ditching the typical diaper covers and going with a shorts design. It took me a bit of time searching on Etsy to find a pattern that I was happy with and ticked all my boxes. What were my boxes??

    - A design that suited both boys and girls TICK
    - Something that looked simply enough for me to actually sew TICK
    - A design that included a range of different sizes TICK
    - Affordable! TICK

So yesterday while I was at work and had some spare time I purchased the pattern from Amanda at Tenderfeet Stitches. I LOVE some of her other patterns but think I'll need a bit more practise before attempting them.

I didn't take any progress pics as I was too involved in getting the pattern right! But here is the end result! A cute little pair of shorts which are a size 6-9months.

The front slightly dips down so you can tell the front from back but I was going to add a little ribbon tag at the back just to make this a little easier. So instead I added a little pink bow to the front of the shorts! I think it's meant to be because I felt they went from cute but plain...to perfect! Here is the top I made the other week that matches the shorts. 

Something else that excted me today was that I figured out how to take reasonbly decent photos on a really crappy weather day! For those of you not in Sydney we had a pretty big storm come over this afternoon and it felt like 8'o'clock at night. 

Perfect to take pictures...err not quite! So I tried the whole difusing the flash thing with paper and other sorts of white things. But then I grabbed by cardboard with is cover in foil and reflected the flash onto the ceiling! While the pictures didn't come out perfect I have some before and after shots for you to compare. The 'before' was taken on a sunny day in my craft room and the 'after' was taken on a cloudy stormy day in my craft room. Neither have been edited yet. 

 I suppose there is pros and cons with both pictures. The 'before' had better colour in regards to the pink yoyo's however I think the overall picture in the 'after' is better, more vibrant and just a more professional product shot. I was able to edit the after shot to get the pinks more to real life.

Here is the foil piece of cardboard. I orginally used it to bounce light around when taking pictures of my hair accessories but it just got too fiddly so I put it away for safe keeping. Turns out that was a good move! Now I can take photos of my clothing in any kinda of weather! Yay!!

I'll also be uploading the Tooth Fairy templates soon to the blog so that everyone can access them! I tested them on my printer and I think they turn out pretty good considering. I also saw this other cool template somewhere to leave from the Tooth Fairy which has details about the child and a tooth chart to mark which tooth or teeth were lost! I'll have to adapt it!

Feeling hot hot hot!

Welcome to this weeks post from Brees 'so very hot that I'm sticking to the chair' Bowtique!!

Wow! How hot is it today?!? For those of you who don't live in the Sydney region, today has been a shocker! I think it got up to around 46/47 degrees where I live which is about 115F for all you folk who don't do Celsius. It's offically the hottest day on record for Sydney. Thank Willis Haviland Carrier for inventing the electric air conditioner, otherwise we'd all my hanging wet reeds from our windows like the Ancient Egyptians! Ha!

Anyways I started this week by doing some slight reorganising and tidying up of my craft area. Usually I like to keep it a bit messy as then I know where everything is but it got to the stage where the mess was playing on my mind and I had to do a bit of a clean. You can see that my dollies now have a little home ontop of my desk along with my bunnies and Hooties! The rest has just basically been cleaned and put back away.

All of my containers did have labels on them but they were duct tape and hand written and messy...as stressed before mess just plays on my mind. So I printed off some lovely nice and neat ones and they are taped on.

My craft desk is an old computer unit that we had at our old house. I desperately want to paint it white but thats for another day. Anywho...one of the sections has CD racks and I can't for the life of my get them out so instead I have used CD cases as shelving and turned it into a mini storage compartment! Ha! Take that CD rack!

I finally released my Tooth Fairy Pouches!! I think they are so damn cute and I looove the bows on the little girlie teeth. If you want to have a look at the album just click on the pic below and it should take you there. 

I'm also working on some templates of Tooth Fairy letter blanks and a little tooth fairy poem which will be available to download here soon.

These are some new colours in the Tooth Fairy pouches that I have been working on today. Dumb dumb dumb to be doing sewing and ironing in the only room in the house to not get any air con. The ceiling fan just wasn't cutting it for me!

The colours are blue, pink, peach, light blue, mint & light pink! I was able to get the peach, light pink and mint mostly completed so I may get them finished over the weekend!

Another new release for BB this week are the button hairties!! I have been wanting these for ages but other material and supplies came first however I saw them...bought them...got them...played with them...LOOOOVE them! I almost wish I wasn't too old to wear these. I'm sure there is a grown up version I could make??...maybe??

Coaster to Coaster....

Here I am blogging for a second time in one week..W.O.W! ha!

I finished off my little coasters the other night when I was having issues with sleeping. I think it would have been around 10pm or something like and I had got the urge to do some sewing so I thought my coasters were simple enough to do while my eye sight wasn't 100%.

I think they turned out pretty good and not really THAT big once I put my cup on them. What do you think?

I am also starting work on an idea I had before Christmas. My tooth keepers/pockets/pouches etc. I have changed the pattern as I found making the lined drawstring bag too difficult with it being so small. So instead I am going to be doing a simple little open top bag that kids can hang on their door handle or a hook or something else of their choice with the tooth pocket still on the front. The bag will be slightly bigger than the r

For the girlie bags I thought I could add a little bow to the tooth which is pictured below...isn't it cute!?! I'm going to be making a purple or maybe lavender one next so this little tooth will be the star of the show on the front!
