Quick Custom!

This week I have made a nice dent into my orders as well as my stock for BB's 1st birthday sale! Takes a little bit of the pressure off my shoulders, that's for sure!

I had one of my customers contact me during the week and asked if I could squeeze her in and make a matching headband for her lil girl. Of course I wasn't going to say no! 90% of it had come together in my head and I must say that this looks almost the same as how I envisaged it. The dress I had to match is majority pinks however it does have a little bit of pink trim here and there and I wanted to tie this into the headband but didn't have any matching ribbon. I looked across from my craft desk and spotted a little bit of green satin I had and decided to make some cute little leaves which were placed behind the flower, between the two bows. Fingers crossed that it looks beautiful on lil Madi's head!

I also got a parcel in the mail yesterday which was exciting because I had forgotten I had paid for shipping....the perks of having a bad memory! I am a little disappointed with some of the flowers as they are marked or faded :( I am hoping I can get some replacements or something.

I also ended up making a headband to wear to my friends wedding last weekend. I haven't got any good pics of it yet but when I do I will include it in one of my blog pic collages.

TTFN Enjoy your weekend! xox

The start to this week was good...and bad. I had been working on my orders so I was about half way through and content with my progress when on Monday I could feel my ears popping...bit weird. Woke up Tuesday with a fully blown cold, blocked sinuses, dizzy, very tired BUT I had to go to work and have been up and down since then. Yuk!

But I have kept working on my orders as I want to get them finished and start working on some new releases for Brees Bowtique. Postage has been annoying me a little bit but I'm not going into that now.

So my pictures above. The headband is the custom fab bow headband which Pearl won as part of my 300 Giveaway. I actually really like the white band with the swirly blue pattern bow, it seems to be really effective. Still need to starch the bow so I am hoping a few of the little creases come out then. I am so anal that most people probably wouldn't notice it or even care but thats just me. It's a very frustrating trait to have.

The bottom two pics kind of tie in together. As Easter is coming up I thought it would be cute to have a set of clippy bows that people can add to their princesses hunt on easter morning. Spice things up a little maybe? So the clippy bow set was ordered by one of my customers and I am just INLOVE with the pastel colours. I have used them in a little promo that I've made for easter which is in the bottom right corner but you can't see it all. I suppose even my blogsters don't get special previews ;) haha I'll be releasing it tomorrow on my facebook page. Maybe as the title page? Who knows!

Anywho, I need some rest. Goodnight all!

Getting there...

Well as you can see my headbands are coming along nicely. I have found a better way to wrap the headbands so my fingers don't get as sore and it doesn't take me as long! It was taking me about 30minutes to wrap one headband but now it's about 10minutes if I don't have to fiddle. I make it a little thicker on the ends too just for a little extra padding for comfort, not that they need it.

Don't the pastel colours look awesome!?! Just need to add the middles to the bows and these will be available on my Facebook page.

Big Update!

Well since making the polka dot headbands I have wanted to make some out of the pastel solid colour fabric that I have. So this is my colour palette that I have to work with... Light Pink, Lavender, Buttercup, Light Blue and Mint. I was going to add in cream but I thought that might look a little bit plain.

Then this is what I have come up with..so far! I think they look really cute and will be great once they are all finished. I love bright colours but I also love pastel colours, they are so soft and relaxing.

Of course I have to wrap all of the headbands which is quite time consuming and takes a toll on my hands. So I am doing it bit by bit...still have four left to do!

Here are a couple of patterned bows I made the other day. I am really liking the floral purple/pink printed one. I also have a blue/aqua/green floral print the same which I'll need to try! The bottom one is light pink with white spots but it's very pale and hard to tell in the photo. It's left over material from a custom bow holder order last week.

On a side note I got one of my parcels from the US the other day! My fluffy little feather puffs. I can't wait to find something to make with them...I already have a few ideas floating around in my head. I'm not usually a 'red' person but I love the colour of the red feathers.

Here is a close up of one of the purple ones. These were considered mess ups or not big enough for the supplier. I think they are plenty big enough!

Then once I am happy with how much work I have done tonight I am going to be painting my nails! I haven't had them painted since late last year because with work the oil just eats away at the polish so normally I can't be bothered.

So that's just a brief catch up!

Huzzah!

Don't let anyone ever tell you that boyfriends, husbands or males are useless! My boyfriend has fixed my laptop! He is such a smarty pants.

So we got the new RAM stick and put it in the spare spot...turned on my laptop....10min later frozen! I was so annoyed that this didn't work and I might have to lay out for a new laptop. BUT to the quick thinking of my boyfriend he took out the old RAM...only left the new one in and voila! It is working A.O.K. I am so so happy that it's back to normal. I can't even notice a speed difference with only one stick compared to two so I might just leave it to one for now.

But that is a little off topic. I have been creating something new-ish over the last two nights. Since the weather has cooled down my creative juices have been flowing. First of all I will apologise for the photos but I am feeling a little off tonight so I couldn't be bothered using my camera and just used my camera phone instead. I know I know, I can hear you saying 'laaaazzzyy'.

This is a a material wrapped headband with a matching Fab Bow. These bows are a tad larger then the ones I have made previously as I think this suits the headband better and sort of balances it out.

Pretty cute huh?

I think these could be great in school colours or just to dress up a weekend outfit! Perfect for the princess who doesn't like elastic headbands (like myself) and prefer to wear this style. Now I just need to go back and buy some more of this material in different colours!!

Doing my little bit...

Well incase some of you don't know, Queensland has had terrible flooding with 75% of the state delcared a disaster zone. So many people have lost millions of dollars in farms and housing as well as many unreplaceable items such as photos, family heirlooms and pets :(

Since raising financial support for these people and businesses is the main aim all of Australia has banded together and donated lots and lots of money. Along with this many fan pages on Facebook have been holding auctions where businesses donate items to be auctioned and all proceeds will be donated to the QLD Flood Appeal.

So I researched many different pages and was accepted to place an item at the Handmade Kids and Rudy & The Dodo Flood Appeal. Brees Bowtiques item is in Album #4 and about 3 or 4 rows down. I am happy to say that after day one of the auction my item is already up to $35 and the whole appeal is already up to $11,000!!! This is just one little page doing this, image how much money all of these pages put together will bring to the flood victims....and this is just Facebook!

Here is my item which anyone is free to bid on over at HMK & RTD Flood Appeal. The auction finishes Monday 17th January.

Also thought I would pop in this (terrible!) pic of a headband which was a custom request from a customer. The flower looks huge in this pic but I think thats because the lace headband is rather thin lol I'll need to post a better pic once I get one!

Oh...one last note! I am going to be putting other some videos on how I do my singed flowers. I have done part one which is basically tools and how to cut out the petals. Will need to film the actual making of the petals and putting together a flower. Only thing I am NOT talking in the video because I hate my voice so it'll all be little notes posted on the video hehe
